Gardening.....

Today we filled the raised garden bed that Ian built with 'dirt'. We used vermiculite(hard to find in mass quantity!) peat moss and compost. I sure hope this Square Foot Garden concept is as great as I've heard!!
After we mixed the 'dirt' and filled the bed, Ian and Max attached the dividers to the top of the garden while Jack, Luke and I added leftover vermiculite to our containers from last year and transplanted last years strawberries. After we took a break to warm up (of course we didn't do this last week when it was really warm;) we planted 5 containers with spinach, 8 containers of lettuce and 4 square feet of the garden with peas. Tonight I'm going to order the rest of our seeds and seedlings. I can't wait until its warm enough to plant everything else! I'm really excited to see how our garden grows, and I'm already plotting things I'd like to do to expand for next year, if all goes well.
As we were working, one of the boys commented about how quickly we were getting things done. I loved that Jack quickly replied, "Many hands make light work." It's a blessing to work together as a family and spend time together.
In writing this, I found the verse,
"The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands." (Deuteronomy 28:12 NIV)
May God bless the work of our hands, not just in planting, nurturing and growing our garden, but in our children and family as well.

Here I go....again!! ;)

I've realized, on multiple occasions, that my memory is not quite as good as id like. I'll chalk it up to giving each of my boys half of my brain when they were growing and developing inside of me. So with 3 boys...that leaves me....yeah, minus half a brain. Sounds about right. ;) So, bad memory, 3 amazing boys, who one day might like to know some details of the craziness, chaos and adventure that we call life. So I (again) thought I'd start blogging. This time, for me, for them, and for you. Now that we live 550 miles from our family, I realize there's so much you misd out on. No, this is not a new realization. But I'm tired of feeling like you're left out. I want you, our friends and family to know the awesome times we're having and have insight into the amazing young men that Ian and I have been blessed with. And before you say it....yes, we try to be the best parents we can. I pray every day (well, almost ;) over my boys as they go to school that they would be respectful, responsible and obedient and that they would show Gods love and grace to everyone God puts in their path. That's about where the credit that people often try to give us should end. The credit, glory and praise goes to God. He is their Father. He created them...and boy did He do an amazing job!!!!! So, here goes nothing......I hope you enjoy your glimpse into our life...and I hope I can keep up with updating this thing!!!! I've got a slight touch of procrastion in me!!! ;)
